Wat Arun or Temple of Dawn

Unbelievably, there are over 31200 Buddhist temples spread around Thailand. Now, I am going to introduce one of temples in Thailand which is called Wat Arun or Temple of Dawn. This temple is one of the most remarkable landmark of Bangkok. The name of Wat Arun gets from Aruna that is the Indian god of the dawn. The temple was built during the Ayutthaya period and was originally called Wat Makok after the name of the local village Tambol Bangmakok that means "Village of Olives". This temple is located at the Chao Phraya River bank. The imposing Khmer-style tower is 67 metres tall and decorated with small pieces of porcelain. The four-corner smaller towers of Wat Arun that are the images of the guardian gods of the four directions.
